Musehum is committed to researching solutions and methodologies that promote ethics and digital citizenship. The museum tells stories of human communications from the 19th century to nowadays, with more than 130,000 pieces on display and in the Technical Reserve – but it also aims to always look ahead. The technological leaps that characterize the Information Age are increasingly changing the way we communicate and relate to one another, opening space to new behaviors. Based on the analysis of contemporary phenomena and its collection, with the support of the Federal Law for Cultural Incentives – Rouanet Law, Musehum announced its new museological plan and defined new strategic research axes for its work in the coming years:
– Media literacy in the information age: ethics and citizenship in the 21st century
– Talking to machines: human communication in the future of AI
– Technological decolonization: the power of change within people’s reach
– Possible dialogues in the Anthropocene: communication technologies to (re)invent the future

In 2024, Musehum has launched the research “Museum trends in a post-pandemic world”, carried out in partnership by Oi Futuro and Grupo Consumoteca. Based on interviews with museum-goers from all over Brazil, experts from different countries and national and international festivals, the research presents the new profile of the public in a post-pandemic world and nine global trends for museums and cultural centers of the future. Its objective was to investigate the relationship between the public and museums, which has been changing even with the full return of in-person activities. This research is part of Oi Futuro’s proposal to produce reference content and stimulate innovation.
